Looking ahead into a new year of service, Student Council members have activities planned.
STUCO sponsor LeeAnne Warren said it is a service organization that uses leadership in communities to improve them. Warren shared their upcoming events.
“At the end of October, we will have a Red Ribbon Week, which is a drug awareness week,” Warren said. “STUCO members will do a food drive in November and Teens Make a Difference somewhere close to that time.“
Student Council have had their first meeting where they held officers elections. Senior Jill Liles became the STUCO president and senior Candace Taggart was elected the vice president.
“I think the leaders were elected for a good reason and will lead Student Council in more action than we’ve done in the past,” secretary Kaydyn Ritchie-Cimini said. “With a new PrimeTime schedule, Student Council will be really active and will have a successful school year.”

This year the members are aiming for more work.
“Our plans are to be more involved in school and to do more community service,“ junior Brianna Howard said. “We’ve been coming up with ideas for more students to participate in school activities.“
Also, students are seeing personal benefits from the organization.
“My personal goal is to be more involved in school,” Howard said. “I want more positivity because recently everybody was depressed.“

Student Council has meetings monthly and the next one will be Nov. 17.
