Ladycats begin district with 1 loss
Dingers, awkward tan lines, and sun flower seeds. Softball season is finally here and starting off with only one loss.
“The games are going really well”, junior Maeley Herring said. “We are working great together as a team.”
While the girls are starting off the season undefeated in district, senior Madison Lucido said the team has both strengths and weaknesses.
“Defense is a big weakness,” Lucido said. “We aren’t as confident as we should be. We just need to work on building each other up. Our hitting is getting a lot better; we have had three home runs in the last six games!”
Senior Morgan Knobloch said there are a lot of talented teams in district this year.
“Petrolia,Windthorst and Seymour are pretty good,” Knobloch said. “We have a big district and can’t take anyone lightly. We have to take it one game at a time and take care of business.”
Even though the team is has been winning, Head Softball Coach Mallory Mooney knows there are improvements the team can be making.
“In pressured situations making simple plays are key,” Mooney said. “Offensively we need to have productive at bats with runners and scoring positions.”
