Students express their summer plans

Students look forward to the last bell for school to end, running right to their summer plans.

Some people choose to spend their summer working to earn money for things they can buy. Sophomore Cienna Diaz plans to get a job being a carhop.

“I’m working at Sonic,” Diaz said. “Carhops get a lot of money from tips. I also plan to baby sit during the summer like I do now.”

Teens also plan on spending time by the pool.

“I plan on life guarding at the pool,” sophomore Lauren Castles said.

Besides working teens are preparing to travel over the summer.

“My whole family is going to Niagara Falls and New York right after graduation,” Graves said. “It’s going to be great having fun all together.”

Senior Brendan Wynne plans on traveling across the states.

“I have never been to Hawaii,” Wynne said. “I am really excited to see places I’ve never seen before.”

Mission trips are also part of some students plans.

“I’m going to Jamaica for a mission trip,” junior Megan Beyleu said. “After I get back, I’m going to California for vacation.”

People like the lake for swimming and boating. Sophomore Grace Morris plans to visit Possum Kingdom this summer.

“My dad got a boat last year, and we started testing it out,” Morris said. “This summer we are planning to take our family and friends out for a good time.”

Beyleu has the same plans.

“After California and Jamaica I’m going to spend the rest of the summer on the water in my boat hanging out with my friends,” Beyleu said.

Amusement parks are another attraction teens plans to visit.

“My mom got me and my brother season passes to Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor,” Morris said. “I look forward to driving down there quite a bit and spending some time in the sun.”

Others are looking forward to going to concerts.

“I have many plans for the summer,” Howard said, “but what I am looking forward to most is the Dixie Chicks.”

Howard said she has been to plenty of concerts, but she is most excited about this one.

“I like their voices and all of their songs,” Howard said.

While some have travel arrangements, others plan to stay close to home to watch TV or play video games.

“To me, video games are relaxing,” Villanueva said. “I can be myself when I play games. Usually, I am a quiet person, but when I play my games, I am a whole different person.”

While some play games inside, Diaz plans to spend her summer playing sports.

“I’m going to this softball camp,” Diaz says. “I’m going to interact with a lot of different people.”

Freshman Sam Clements plans to spend her whole summer being involved in sports.

“I’m going to a volleyball camp at Trinity Valley Community College because my sister coaches there,” Clements said. “I also plan on coming to the basketball camp that the school is hosting.”
