Senior Class Pushes For Donations
Archer Service Center reaches out for advertisement, help promoting
Seniors have been working with ANAG, Inc. (Archer Service Center) to spread awareness about a charity event called Texoma Gives. Service Center Member Misty Cameron reached out with an idea to post information and possibly a picture to students’ social media accounts with the hashtag #SeniorsForSeniors and the link www.texomagives.org.
“It is difficult to think of advertising or marketing ideas that are not already being used and that do not cost the Center any funds,” Cameron said. “So many of us small nonprofits have no ability for an online gift to be made but this day allows that to happen for a 16-hour span.” Texoma Gives is an online donation event organized by the Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation to support charity in Texoma and 24 surrounding counties in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma.
On Sept 15 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Texoma citizens will be able to donate to five nonprofit organizations in Archer County through Texoma Gives.
“A lot of nonprofit organizations like this one need that extra financing,” senior Guy Richardson said. “I felt like I was kind of blessing these senior citizens by just taking a picture with them.”
Organizations participating this year along with the Service Center are the Royal Theater and Archer City Story Center in Archer City; Holliday Public Library in Holliday; and Windthorst Community Center in Windthorst.
“We’re just providing free advertisement for the Service Center, but to the people who work there, it’s more than that,” senior Cody Coates said. All donations made through Texoma Gives on www.texomagives.org will be eligible for “Prize Money” given by various sponsors found on the website’s home page. Prizes have not yet been determined and not all donors are guaranteed to win a prize.
