The National Honor Society hosted a Christmas luncheon at the cafeteria on Sunday to raise money for their annual trip.

“Last year our NHS group overdrew our account, and we were in the negative at the beginning of this year,” NHS sponsor Bethann Oswald said. “The officers brainstormed a luncheon that would raise money for the group.”

At the luncheon, the members served chicken spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. Guests could also bid at a silent auction and buy tickets for a raffle of a family session by LCPhotography.

“It was a lot of work to put together,” NHS president Hannah Mays said. “It was something that NHS hadn’t done before, so it made a nice change.”

The luncheon managed to raise over $1,600 for the society’s yearly budget.

“The luncheon was very successful,” Communications Chairman Lane Collins said. “It brought our account balance way up from $22.”
