DISTRICT: The girls seventh grade volleyball team had a 10-0 record as district champions while the eighth grade team has a 7-3 record.
OVERALL: The seventh grade team ended with an overall 12-1 record and the eighth grade ended with an overall 8-5 record.
LAST WEEK: The seventh grade team beat Windthorst, winning the district championship, while the eighth grade team lost. Both teams finished the season.
BRIGHT SPOTS: “During the seventh grade game versus Windthorst in the first set, the Ladycats were down eight points and fought back to win the set 25-23,” Coach Whitney Coles said. “It was a spectacular team effort and Gracie Canada served five aces in a row to help finish out that set.”
INSIDE SCOOP: “All of the games were tough,” Coles said. “Our focus is for them to be solid on fundamentals.”
WEAKNESS: “A weakness is definitely communication and calling for the ball,” eighth grade player Brilee Canada said. “We could also have worked on passing and serve receive.”
Seventh grade player Adelyn Winter agreed communication was a weakness.
“We really should have worked on talking,” Winter said.
STRENGTH: While a weakness can be calling for the ball and communicating about what is going on in the game, Winter said they still got along well as a team.
“One of our biggest strengths was probably how we hyped up before the game and the fact that we are pretty close as a group,” Winter said.
