As Halloween approaches, decorations and seasonal customs are back as well. House decorations are customary for a number of homeowners around this time of year.
According to a nationwide poll, 82% of homeowners are decorating for the season this year, which would be four of five homeowners.
When decorating for the season, some put them up early to be prepared or to just have a head start.
“I help my mom put up decorations a month early,” eighth grader Skylar Merkle said.
She said seeing decorations sets the mood for the holidays.
“Seeing the decorations outside puts me in a more festive mood for the season,” Merkle said.

Decor isn’t just limited to being inside. It is both an indoor and outdoor affair. So whether it is a large spider web across the lawn or a welcome autumn door mat, these are both considered holiday decor.
“We put small decorations all around the house,” junior Brooke Smith said.
Decor also can attract trick or treaters on Halloween.
‘We sit outside and pass out candy all night. Many trick or treaters come by,” Merkle said.
Whether it’s a case of time management or a love for Halloween, some homeowners will leave their decorations up after the holiday.
“We leave our decorations up even after Halloween,” seventh grader Timothy Bracey said.
Others decorate for the new seasons approaching.
“We immediately decorate for the next holiday after Halloween,” Merkle said.
Other people decorate their homes like a haunted house.
“I like to decorate as a haunted house because it’s fun to see people being scared,” Bracey said.
