At district meet in Seymour on Oct. 11, the cross country teams went and competed with Oleny, Quannah, Seymour, Windthorst, and Petrolia.
The team has deffinately changed this year. With a new coach, teaching methods are different.
This is Coach Kent Kyle’s first year teaching Cross Country.
“I really enjoyed seeing improvement from kids running overall,” Kyle said.
Coach Kyle’s teaching methods had many benefits.
“I think the kids enjoyed their success,” Kyle said.
“He is really good at coaching,” Wall said. “He’s supportive, motivational, and not at all forceful.”
“I kinda liked his teaching methods,” Jetzyre Miranda said. “Sometimes
he was too soft and he may need to have a little more edge, but overall, he’s good.”
Freshman Jetzyre Miranda, who runs for Varsity, placed 25th place with a time of 25 minutes and 31 seconds.
Junior Adrian Rubio, who placed 21st with a time of 24 minutes and 3 seconds, thinks that Coach Kyle is different than he’s used to.
“He’s pretty good, better than my last coach at my old school,” Rubio said.
There were mixed emotions about how district went.
However, Adrian Rubio said that “The team could’ve done better. I was not prepared for district and I needed to practice more.”
Lexi Wall has a similar view point.
“District was not good. We could’ve done better at not stopping and taking breaks as often,” Wall said.
Eighth grader Reed Truette, despite these roadblocks, got first with a time of 12 minutes and 41 seconds.
“We did good, we needed more practice running in heat,” Truette said.
