DISTRICT: The junior high football team’s district record is 2 – 2.
OVERALL: Their overall record is 2 – 4.
LAST WEEK: The JH football team lost against Windthorst 38 – 6.
PREVIOUS GAMES: The JH football team won their first district game against Electra with a score of 0-28. Earning their second win, the boys won 40 – 36 against Haskell.
BRIGHT SPOTS: A few of the boys had some broken wrists that the team has had to overcome.
“Even though we have had a few injuries, we’ve worked around them,” Coach Lukas Bontrager said. “The boys have stepped up and improved a little in every position.
”
Seventh grader Brayden Tedrow said that everyone hypes each other up, which he believes is important because it keeps everyone in a good mood and wanting to play.
INSIDE SCOOP: The team only has 22 players, but they all enjoy being around each other, so they work well as a team, Bontrager said.
WEAKNESS: “One of our biggest weaknesses is probably blocking,” Tedrow said. “It is something we need to work on.”
STRENGTH: “I think our biggest strengths are being able to give the ball to multiple people and not just passing to one person,” eighth grader Seth Truette said. “We also work well as a team and can outsmart the other teams.”
The team needs to work on learning their positions better and individual work Bontrager said.
“We need to work on understanding our plays and working together,” Bontrager said.
