As March approaches, prom dresses and tuxedoes are being bought, along with appointments made for nails, hair, and makeup.
This is some students’ first prom.
“I’m very excited because some of my friends had the chance to go to prom their freshman and sophomore year,” junior Malia Jones said, “but I never did, so I am very excited to get to go to prom.”
Students plan to shop at Windsor, WhatchamaCallit Boutique, and others.
“I can’t wait to get my prom dress,” junior Brooke Smith said. “I’ll probably go to Dallas and look in different stores until I find the perfect dress.”
Girls go get dresses, but boys have other plans.
“I’m probably just going to go and get fitted at a tuxedo place,” junior Isaac Dieguez said.
“Last year I got a tux in Wichita Falls and I probably will again.”
Other boys may order a tux online.
“I’m just going to get mine ordered and hopefully it’ll come in on time,” junior Noah Cornell said. “I will have to go and get sized first to make sure I order the right size.”
Appointments may have to be made up to two months in advance from prom day.
“I think it is crazy that I have to book these appointments so early,” Smith said.
Jones said getting ready for prom is the “most eventful” part of prom.
“ I have to book appointments for my hair and makeup a whole month in advance,” Jones said, “or all of the spots will be taken up.”
Jones said even though these appointments do take a while they are “totally worth it.”
“I can’t wait to get my nails done,” Jones said. “I’ll either get French tips or something that correlates to my dress.”
Girls also have to think about what type of hair to wear.
“I’m most likely going to wear my hair half up half down,” Smith said. “It just depends on what type of dress I get.”
Smith said that she is excited about the accessories she will use.
“Anything between purses and earrings is so fun to pick out,” Smith said. “My heels will correlate with my dress and my jewelry will most likely be gold and simple.”
Jones said that she isn’t sure if she’ll get a handbag to carry with her or not.
“I have a belt bag I can carry my phone in,” Jones said, “but I think I might want something a little more fancy that matches my dress.”
Jones said she can’t wait for prom.
“I am so excited to dress up for a night and dance with my friends,” Jones said.
