The The changes to the school brought a sense of excitement and opportunity for growth. We have experienced a countless number of changes that made this year stand out from others.
One big difference this year was the new administration. Students tend to enjoy seeing new faces around the school. Next year we will have a new superintendent, and this year we’ve already welcomed a new principal. New staff means there’s a chance for more communication. It will be great if students had a bigger voice and maybe the administration will listen to us more. With _ new teachers students have experienced new teaching styles. It was good to be able to appreciate the learning environment each teacher brought and it was always something new every day.
The overall atmosphere has been better throughout the year. The school has become a safer environment for students since the issues we had last year. There haven’t been as many arguments between students causing a better attitude overall. Students have been encouraging and helpful, making it a positive and motivating place to learn and grown. The new students that join our school also feel welcomed because of the organizations like the NEW Club helping them learn their way around the school.
Security is one of the biggest focuses of this year. The district has implemented a lot of new rules to keep students safe. Teachers are now instructed to lock their doors and the only way for someone to get in is with a master key or the specific key to each door. Students have also noticed more faculty monitoring the halls. Monitoring the halls also includes monitoring the bathrooms in between each class to ensure there’s a maximum of five students per restroom. Bullet proof doors and windows have also been installed throughout the school to ensure student safety.
Students have already seen many great changes this year compared to years prior. There is hope for the years to continue on with these changes to create a better place for everyone who’s on campus.
