The pressure of studying for STAAR tests can sometimes be a little nerve-wracking for most students. After being in class all year, it can make students anxious on the day of thinking about if they fail.
It can be even worse with certain subjects because if students do fail, they have to retake the class and retake the test the following year, only adding to the stress of studying for the other ones.
Although I myself haven’t failed a STAAR test, I know friends and peers who have and it honestly sounds like a nightmare.
After hearing of peers failing, I get so nervous thinking about the tests that I’ll try to cram study and make it worse by forgetting the material more.
Although we juniors only had the U.S history one this year, I was still pretty nervous going into it after hearing peers talk about how they thought they were going to do.
For some students, they have to study for three different STAAR tests in the same year: English, Algebra and Biology. Freshman year is the worst about studying because of having so many tests.
I can remember how it used to be for me my freshman and sophomore years because the English one was always the worst, at least for me, because studying for them was an absolute nightmare on all sides. The bad part about them is trying to study, because all stories and authors may follow a different format and style of writing.
STAAR testing can be difficult to think about for some students and can be even worse to take for others.
