The junior high one -act play will perform “The Firecracker Incident” at the district contest on Nov. 20 at Olney High School.
The play is a drama is about a teenage boy, who is sorrowful when a girl he was talking to dies, and he feels responsible for what happened.
The cast and crew practice after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays where they work on lines, facial expressions and stage directions. English teacher Becky Nogle and counselor Leslie Graham direct the group.
“We have a big group this year, and they’re very eager to learn and do,” Graham said.
Seventh grader Abel McCown said he is trying to improve his acting.
“I’m working on pronouncing my words better and memorizing my lines,” McCown said.
Seventh grader Jayden Peters said she has areas to improve.
“I need to work on my lines and facial expressions, especially movements,” Peters said.
Nogle said she is hopeful about the group’s chances.
“Our strengths are the enthusiasm and willingness to work hard,” she said.
