Marvel’s new movie “Thunderbolts” takes a different path from the usual superhero films. Instead of classic heros like Iron Man or Captain America, this team is made up of antihero people with troubled pasts who aren’t used to working together.
Directed by Jake Schreier, “Thunderbolts” brings together familiar characters like Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour) and U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell). Joining them are Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) and Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), who leads the team on a secret government mission.
This group isn’t the average team of good guys. Each one has made mistakes and carries emotional baggage. They don’t always get along and that leads to tension and unexpected moments. But it also makes the story more interesting and different from what we’ve seen before in the Marvel Universe.
Pugh gives a strong performance as Yelena, showing both toughness and emotion. Stan brings depth to the Winter Soldier, a character still dealing with his past. The two actors work well together and bring real feeling to the film. Harbour also adds some funny moments as Red Guardian, helping to balance the movie’s serious tone.
The movie includes plenty of exciting action scenes, but it also focuses on the characters and their personal struggles. This makes it more emotional than some other Marvel films. However, the middle part of the movie does slow down a bit. Also, some characters, like Ghost and Taskmaster, don’t get much screen time, which may leave some fans wanting more.
Visually, “Thunderbolts” is darker than most Marvel movies. The colors are cooler and the style is more serious, which fits the tone of the story. The music adds suspense and helps set the mood.
In the end, “Thunderbolts” is a bold move for Marvel. It may not be the most action-packed or funny film, but it offers something new. It shows how even imperfect people can come together and fight for something better. It’s not perfect, but it’s worth watching especially for fans who want to see a different side of the Marvel world.
