Eighth grader Morgan Veitenheimer and senior Bobbi Loran perform their routine at the pink out football game last fall.

Although the school year is coming to an end, the Prowlin’ Growlin’ Wildcat Band is staying busy.

With state competition approaching, seniors Bobbi Loran, Anna Richardson, junior Toby Crowley, sophomore Josie Emrick, freshmen Audrey Schroeder, Emily Richardson and eighth grader Morgan Veitenheimer are preparing for their performances on May 28. They will be performing at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville.

“I’m looking forward to going to state and performing,” Emrick said, “but the drive there does not sound very appealing at all.”

The students have been spending their time working on improving their music pieces.

“I learn something new every time I go into practice.”

“I’ve been really trying to work on getting more technical with my music,” Anna Richardson said. “I’m working on instead of reading the music itself, reading what’s around the music like articulations and seeing how loud or quiet I can go.”

The twirlers will also be traveling to Austin to perform their ensemble.

“My team will do a good job,” Loran said. “We have a really great new routine.”

Loran and Schroeder will also be performing individual solos.

“With this being my first year as a twirler,” Schroeder said, “I learn something new overtime I go into practice.”
