After placing second in district, the Ladycats won the bi-district championship beating Munday 25-7, 25-9 and 25-6 on Monday in Vernon. They will play Hico in Mineral Wells tonight.

Our strength and the overall attitude is pretty positive; we have good chemistry.

After reaching the state championship last year, the Ladycats are on the playoff path again.

“Team strengths are blocking and aggressive hitters because we are a tall team,” assistant coach Julie Castles said. “Our weakness is ball control but that has gotten better through work. Our goal is to make our weakness our strength.”

After finishing second in district, head coach Krissa Johnson said she hopes to return to the regional tournament.

“We had a core group of seniors that we lost from last year and have young kids trying to fill their shoes,” Coach Johnson said. “One weakness we have is our consistency.

Starting senior Lauren Castles said the team has to work harder.

“We aren’t as good as last year,” Castles said.

In order to return to state, senior Sierra Mooney said the Ladycats should try to work together as a team. She has also set personal goals for herself.

“I’ve been putting in extra practice and becoming a leader,” Mooney said.
