Fall is here and with it comes all kinds of weather and all kinds of seasonal food that some people eat this time of year.

“When I lived in Mexico we had a food called Day of the Dead bread. Food is a big part of the spanish culture,” Spanish teacher Ruben Martinez said.

Food is a part of people’s lives and some have food that they eat specifically when the seasons change.

“We make popcorn balls, carve pumpkins and fry pumpkin seeds,” home economics teacher Donnette Odom said. “I enjoy teaching the students these foods and they enjoy it too.”

Food is also a part of school. Students make and eat all kinds of food in school.

“We have sweet food called ‘Martha Washingtons’ during the fall, and they are made of butter, sugar, milk and pecans,” sophomore Sarah Newton said.

People have all kinds of food that they make with distinct tastes and all kinds of different names like “Day of the Dead Bread” and “Martha Washingtons.”

“Our family stops grilling as much as we do during the summer time,” biology and chemistry teacher Mrs. LeeAnne Warren said. “We start to eat a lot of casseroles. We like the foods that we eat during this time of year.” 

People have regular times that they eat certain foods that they love.

“I love fall foods and  Thanksgiving foods like turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy and pumpkin pie,” sophomore Kodi Graham said. “I wish that they would stay around all year long.”

Eighth grader Natalya Walker said Thanksgiving is a good time to spend with family.

“I love eating with my family,” she said. “Thanksgiving helps us get together and spend time with each other. I love cooking with my nanny.”

The making and eating of foods can bring people together for big  family meals.

“The food is amazing and definitely one of the best things about fall,” sophomore Mikayla Jones said.
