The Quill and Scroll International Honor Society inducted six new members to their organization on May 11 at Johnny Carino’s in Wichita Falls.

“Quill and Scroll is a journalistic society that recognizes the people who meet the society’s requirements,” senior Hope Browning said. “Being in Quill and Scroll requires hard workers and team players.”

To be inducted into Quill and Scroll, students must meet four requirements.

“They have to produce superior work in a journalism class, be in the top third of their class academically, be at least a sophomore and be recommended by a media adviser, which is me,” sponsor Carol Cox said. “It’s always nice to be able to recognize these students for their hard work.”

The new members include sophomores Tessa Brooks, Maggie Coates, Breanna Howard, Sarah Newton, Emily Strenski and Avery Williams.

“It’s great to be recognized by our wonderful teacher Ms. [Carol] Cox for all the hard work we have done these past two years,” Howard said.

The ceremony was led by current senior members Abby Aulds, Hope Browning, Ross Ditto, Kennedy Huseman, Sierra Mooney, Grace Morris and Olivia Taggart.

“It was a very honorable event to be a part of,” Morris said. “I’m proud of everyone who makes it into the group.”

Quill and Scroll members must have spent at least two years in one of Ms. Cox’s journalism classes.

“I am in Yearbook II this year,” Williams said. “I just try to do my best at everything I do. Always meeting my deadlines and doing what I’m told helped me get into this group.”

This year only seniors conducted the ceremony.

“It is an honor to be in Quill and Scroll,” Huseman said. “I felt privileged to welcome the new members, and I know that there will be good people replacing us seniors.”
