FFA prepares for competition

Future Farmers of America is planning to compete in the county and major shows.
“The kids are working with their animals and practicing everyday,” FFA sponsor Tanner Hash said. “Everyone is keeping their animals on track for the major shows coming up.”
The county show starts on January 6-8 and further major shows run from February to March.
“Right now, I’m preparing for the county and major show.” senior Mason Gilmore, FFA president, said. “I try to work on showmanship every day.”
Members can also attend prospect shows in order to prepare for upcoming events.
“I think the prospect shows are a great option to help prepare for county,” Gilmore said. “That’s why I try to attend as many as I can. I want to be prepared.”
On Nov. 19 the FFA team competed in the Leadership Development Events and placed eighth. The competitors were as follows: Senior Quiz Team- Eli Anderson, Mason Gilmore, Emma Gray and Faith Morris; Greenhand Quiz- Zoey Bates, Victoria Foster, Valarie and Vivian Rater; Greenhand Creed Speaking- Valarie Rater; Senior Creed Speaking- Sara Kyle and Senior Job Interview- Eli Anderson.
“I really enjoyed going to the job interview,” Anderson, FFA secretary, said. “I felt I did well at the end of the day. It was a fun experience.”
