DISTRICT: The seventh grade boys are 2-4 and the eighth grade boys are 2-6.
OVERALL: The seventh grade boys are 2-7 overall with the eighth grade boys being 3-7 overall.
LAST WEEK: Last week the boys took a loss to Seymour.
BRIGHT SPOTS:
The boys also have played and won their expected “hardest game” against Petrolia.
“Petrolia’s win was huge,”the boys played great,” coach Castles said. “The boys played great.”
INSIDE SCOOP: “We work on a lot of rebounding and defense during practice,” eighth grader Joe Castles said. “We also work on our fundamentals.”
Eighth grader Parker Hilbers said he thinks that the team has improved.
“We have worked on a lot of the same things throughout the season,” Hilbers said. “It has definitely led to improvement in both teams.”
WEAKNESS: “They really need to work on finishing their games hard,” coach Castles said.
Castles said that shooting is one of the biggest weaknesses on the team.
“We miss a lot of wide open shots,” Joe Castles said. “Our layups and block shots need to be a lot better.”
Seventh grader Gabe Rice said the seventh grade team also struggles with their shooting.
“We really have problems with our shooting,” Rice said. “We miss a lot of our wide open shots.”
STRENGTH: “Our defense is pretty good,” Hilbers said. “That’s one of the things that we’ve been working on since the beginning of the season.”
Castles agreed with Hilbers.
“Our defense makes up for some of the mistakes made in the game,” Castles said. “As long as we stay aggressive, we should be able to win more games.”
