Tennis competes at district

Coach Haley Owen gives Seniors Aspyn Huseman and Maddie Lopez advice before thier next set.

The tennis team competed at the district tournament on Monday at Hamilton Park. Due to weather, teams had to finish Wednesday morning. Results were not available at press time.
“We knew that district was going to be a whole new ballgame this year,” Coach Haley Owen said, “with so many graduating this year and Quanah choosing to mix up their pairs.”
Players had the option each week to attend a tournament.
“Spring is a very busy time,” Owen said. “I feel like everyone did a great job of attending as many tournaments as they were able.”
Last year, sophomore Chase Curry made it to state.

,” Curry said. “I have to keep a good mindset and not get too cocky.”
Curry said there is definitely more competition than there was last year.
“Overall, the harder competition has helped me prepare for regionals this year,” Curry said. “I definitely have high expectations for the team, but I need to keep practicing and improving as much as I can.”
Others players competed in a JV bracket at district.
“I liked that I was able to get first out of all the JV teams there,” sophomore Kole Stovall said. “It was definitely something I would like to try and do again next year.“
