DISTRICT: 0-4
OVERALL: 2-6
LAST WEEK: The JV Wildcats lost to Windthorst in a close 26-24 match.
PREVIOUS GAMES: Tyler Owen is the offensive coordinator for the junior varsity.
“We have had our chances to win in every game we’ve played,” Owen said. “But we usually have to play catch-up because sometimes it takes us a quarter or two to realize we can keep playing these teams.”
INSIDE SCOOP: There has not been a JV team in district since 2017.
“This is the first time in a while that we have been fortunate enough to keep JV at this point in the season,” Owen said.
Sophomore Jaedin Kim said the team was ready to accept him.
“They were very welcoming as soon as I stepped foot on the field. They’re also great at taking losses and learning from them, which still makes for a good experience.”
WEAKNESS: Kim said the team lacks boldness.
“I think many people on the team need more confidence,” Kim said.

Winning takes confidence, and we really need it.

Owen said one weakness is that the team is small.
“I think almost every team we have played has had nearly twice as many kids on their JV as we do,” Owen said.
STRENGTH: Sophomore Kellar Crow said the team’s biggest strength he sees is determination.
“Our team really works hard,” Crow said. “We can be pretty tough. I think we can win some district games.”
Owen said he has seen success offensively.
“Our biggest strength is our skill positions on offense,” Owen said. “Throughout the season we’ve gotten so much better defensively. If we limit our own mistakes, we can be pretty tough to score on.”
