Two varsity tennis players are advancing to state.

“Junior Kline Mayo and senior Sara Schroeder both are advancing to state and will compete April 25- 26,” tennis coach Haley Owen said.

Six tennis players advanced to the regional tournament and competed on April 10 and 11.
Owen said she is proud of the goals the team achieved as a whole.

Junior Kassidy Marin said she hoped to make it out of region.
“My doubles partner and I had practiced on our own and put a lot of work into advancing,” Marin said.
Marin’s partner, junior Caitlyn Hilbers, said it felt rewarding to go to region.
“This is my second year going to regionals and I felt like my goals were achieved,” Hilbers said.
Marin said she feels a little upset about not advancing out of region.
“I felt like we had a good chance to go to state this year, but we had some errors at the regional tournament that cost us,” Marin said. “I am still hopeful though because we have our senior year to make it farther.”
Schroeder said that the season was hard but gratifying.
“This tennis season has been fun and challenging,” Schroeder said. “My partner and I had good competition but we persevered and met our goal of getting out of district and regionals.”
Schroeder said she is happy she has made it far to end her senior year sports season.
“I have been to region three years in a row and it is rewarding to get to go to state for the first time,” Schroeder said. “

I feel sentimental knowing this is my senior year and last chance getting to play a sport I love.” Results from region:
