The junior high track team participated in their first track meet in Seymour.
Coach Tyler Owen said.
Owen said there are quite a few naturally athletic kids in junior high track team this year, so they have the potential to do well.
“I did high jump and the relays at the first track,” 7th grader Faith Frankie said. “I feel like I did pretty well for it being my first track meet ever.”
Frankie said they practice hard every day and are improving.
“I think we should do pretty well this season as a whole because we all have good attitude and work as hard as possible in practice,” 8th grader Seth Truette said.
Truette said that they all get along and work well in practice.
“Track is fun and it keeps you in shape. It gets you stronger for other sports too,” eighth grader Ashlyn Harvey said. “We have pretty good athletes so this season should be good.”
Track is a sport that benefits athletes’ performances in other sports too.
“Track gets you faster and builds endurance,” Owen said. “You have to compete with yourself as well as others which is beneficial.”
The team should have a decent season as long as they are competitive Owen said.
“Track isn’t the most fun sport but I like it because it helps me stay in shape for basketball,” seventh grader Kash Doyle said.
Doyle said with all the good athletes in JH athletics the team is expected to perform well.
“We don’t have a ton of kids in track, but we are impressed with the way they performed,” Owen said.
