The Ladycats play this Thursday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m. versus Riesel in Stephenville for the regional semifinal title.
The softball team defeated Lipan 1-0 Friday to win the regional quarterfinals championship.
Head coach Kent Kyle said he made position changes before playoffs began to improve the team.
Senior Brynlee Skelton moved to second base, freshman Brilee Canada moved to short-stop and freshman Makaylee McCown moved to third base.
“Second base wasn’t hard to figure out,” Skelton said. “Playing short-stop was a huge opportunity, but with a shoulder injury the throw from short-stop to 1st base was getting harder and harder.”
Freshman Addison Canada said that she loves pitching.
“Because I’ve pitched since a young age my speed has increased and my knowledge about softball has also gotten better,” Canada said.
New assistant Coach Renea Getts said it’s been a blessing getting to be a part of the team again.
“These girls have definitely improved this season,” Getts said. “Getting to be a coach at the same school that I went to has been such an amazing experience.”
Sophomore Serenity Jones said outfield has definitely improved throughout this season.
“Outfield can be very difficult, but being a team in the outfield helps the three of us work together and play better,” Jones said.
Kyle said he knew the team would go far because he knew the potential the girls have.
