The elementary school had a variety of events so far this semester.
On March 7, Technology Day took place, where the fifth and sixth grades were allowed to bring electronics to celebrate their “perfect” conduct throughout the semester.
“It was good because I always get marks,” fifth grader Chris Wallace said. “It wasn’t difficult because I listened this year.”
During Family Bingo Night on March 4, friends and families came together to play various games of bingo.
“I sat with my friends and talked,” fifth grader Kylie Randall said. “I had three bingo cards, and I was one spot away. Then my friend won it. It was the most fun I had at school, though.”
The night was a fundraiser for the Parent–Teacher Organization, which uses the profits to assist the elementary.
“We PTO and teachers decided to do an event that involves parents and children,” Counselor Vicky Lopez said. “Our elementary campus is a Title 1 campus that has to meet federal requirements each year.”
The Book Fair on Feb. 24-27 started off the semester. This year was the first year the librarian, Megan Gulley, hosted the event.
“It was fun getting the kids in to shop for books and have a good time doing it,” she said. “I was able to work with community members for donations.”
