The Daddy Daughter Dance was hosted at the Royal Theatre on Feb. 28 afternoon, offering an opportunity for memories for the fathers and daughters.
Third grade teacher Melissa Williams helped organize the dance to raise money for the community.
“It was to help raise funds for the Fire Department,” Williams said.
Williams said her expectations for the event was over the line and superior.
“I would say it was above average,” Williams said.
Students had a chance to spend their time at the dance alongside their dads, sixth grader Sydnee Kolacek said she was able to connect with her father.
“I got to dance with my dad,” Kolacek said.
Third grader Ryleigh Deerinwater said she got to assist her mom during the dance.
“My mom got to work it and I got to help it,” Deerinwater said.
Fourth grader Jaylee Weaver spent her time hanging out with her friends during the event.
“Playing around with my friends was fun,” Weaver said.
Weaver said the girls enjoyed dressing up for the dance.“My dress was white and brown with buttons and a bow,” Weaver said.
Fifth grader Kylie Randall said she also wore a special dress to the dance.
“I was dressed in a yellow sundress with flowers,” Randall said.
Kolacek claimed she loved her dress she wore to the dance.
“I brought a white dress with flowers all around it,” Kolacek said.
Weaver said she danced to her favorite song.
“My favorite song is “‘Choosing Texas,’” Weaver said.
Randall said that her favorite part of the event was getting to sway away with her dad throughout the night.
“Getting to slow dance with my dad was the best part of the night,” Randall said.
Randall said that she taught her dad how to pull out a move on the dance floor.
“I taught my dad how to “‘drop it like it’s hot,’” Randall said.
