FFA held their annual banquet on May 4, where the new officers for next school year were announced.
The officers will be junior Brilee Canada – president, junior Grayson Jeter – vice president, freshman Paislee Getts – secretary, freshman Emry Veitenheimer – treasurer, junior Noah Madsen – reporter, junior Gage McCord – sentinel, junior Cy Wooldridge – student adviser, eighth grader Emory Kincaid – parliamentarian, freshman Kreid Edwards – historian and eighth grader Jaleny Miranda – chaplain.
Awards were also announced at the banquet. Seniors Shooter Canada and Talynn Lowe received the Spade Garrett Memorial Scholarship, freshmen Paislee Getts and Wayland Cowley received the Star Greenhand Awards, and sophomore Seth Truette received the Star Chapter Farmer Award. “I enjoyed getting awards,” Veitenheimer said. “It shows how far I’ve come throughout the whole time of being in FFA. It really shows my dedication of wanting to do better and better in this elective. I love being in FFA because I get to represent my school and FFA itself.”
FFA sponsor Ryan Crafton said the banquet was nice.
“I am proud of the kids for how far they have come since the beginning of the year and earlier,” Crafton said.
Cowley said he enjoys being a part of FFA.
“It makes me feel pretty special being in all of the events and being a part of this,” Cowley said. “I got lots of awards, so I am pretty proud of myself and the accomplishments I’ve achieved because of FFA, thanks to Mr. Crafton.”
Kincaid said she is proud to see where they ended this year.
“I thought I did pretty good last semester, but seeing where I am now, I see that I’m doing even better,” Kincaid said. “I didn’t think I could be in the position of one of the officers, but here I am.”
