Seniors Sydney Dunkel and Avery Moorehead experiment with ice at the Perot museum alongside sophomores Ashtyn Moorehead, Ashlynn Penny, and Ally Warren.

The group visited the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas. The museum is an interactive attraction where members were able to learn through hands-on activities and kiosks.

“It was a great experience,” senior president Maeley Herring said. “I loved all of the hands-on activities and the chance to learn new things and spend time with my friends.”

After leaving the Perot museum, members went to the Galleria mall for lunch. The Galleria had a food court for the students to eat at and an ice skating rink where some students spent the rest of their time at the mall.

“It was a lot of fun going to the mall,” senior member Avery Moorehead said. “I enjoyed being able to ice skate after we ate.”

The last activity of the day was attending a Dallas Mavericks basketball game at the American Airlines Center.

“I really enjoyed the Mavericks game because the energy level was high,” senior member Caitlin Taylor said. “It was an exciting game to watch.”

The NHS members go on a winter trip every year to reward the members for all the effort they put in to maintaining their grades.

“The students work hard all year, so I like to provide a fun experience for them,” NHS sponsor Bethann Oswald said. “I want to take the students out of the box of Archer City and remind them that there is more out there. I hope it encourages them to think outside the box and realize we’re not limited just because we come from a small town.”
