Student Council has begun getting back together with past members as well as new incoming members to organize what goes into their yearly activities. “We have a good group of students who have signed up for the Student Council,” Sponsor LeeAnne Warren said.
The Student Council consists of 12 members. Four of the new members are freshmen.”It is exciting to see the participation from them. Typically the younger classes are hesitant to step up to lead,” Warren said.
Students on the council propose and organize events for the junior high and high schoolThis year we have already begun organizing Red Ribbon Week in October,” Warren said.
The council allows students to have a role in the school by adding their own thoughts and ideas that others might consider as well, senior Zoey Hastings said.
“I like that I’m able speak amongst others in STUCO and have everyone bring up their own ideas of what we like and don’t when it comes to planning dress up days,” Hastings said.
The Student Council plans to meet a few times each semester, due to not having PrimeTime anymore.” We plan to meet three to four times each semester although not having a PrimeTime, a designated time in the school day, does challenge us,” Warren said.
“The council will determine what activities to plan and organize,” Warren said. “This varies year to year depending on what the members agree upon.”
