Imagine it’s the first day of the weekend. You’re lounging on the couch, finishing up a movie. You finally get to the end of it and realize that the movie had so much potential, or that you were left on a cliff-hanger.
With TV shows, creators can make sure to include all the details that movies could have missed. TV shows with full seasons last longer than movies, which helps the writer grant deeper character development and give the viewers a sense of connection with the characters.
New episodes for TV shows are usually released weekly, while movies take years for the next part to come into play.
Even if some movies are good or fun to watch, TV shows give a better sense of what is going on with the plot.
Movies only have about an hour and a half or two to deliver the whole plot, while TV shows have an entire season to build the storyline, giving the audience excitement and a sense of longing at the end of the series, making watchers wish it never ended.
TV shows come out way quicker than movies, which allows people to binge-watch an entire series without having to wait years.
“Star Wars Rebels” first came out on Oct. 3, 2014, and concluded on March 5, 2018. It only took four years for a TV show with four seasons to end, while it took approximately 42 years for four “Star Wars” movies to come out in order. “Star Wars Rebels” is 30 hours and 25 minutes across all 74 episodes and four seasons, while just four “Star Wars” movies lasted for 8 hours and 20 minutes. This just further proves that TV shows offer more than movies.
Not only do TV shows provide more, but they also aren’t restricted to one theme or plot. Movies tend to have one major climax, while TV shows can start with one problem but slowly add more as the episodes and seasons go on.
TV shows have unlimited time to continue, while movies are expected to be short. They allow the creators to get more of their ideas out without rushing. They allow the show to have room to adapt and change the characters to better show their development.
Although they both have merit, TV shows are so much better than movies. They allow the audience to finally enjoy a plot with its full potential, with infinite possibilities.
