Recently Dr. John Sherrill has enforced a rule on wearing blankets. Many students have been wearing blankets due to cold weather, but with more students wearing them, it started to raise a concern.
Blankets are not within the approved dress code for ACISD. Students could wear a blanket for other reasons than just being chilly like trying the get around the dress code. Another reason is safety.
With the blanket covering the body, people could hide something in the blanket. Students could potentially bring something harmful which is why the blanket rule is enforced for safety.
Rules for the students are simply for our safety and for education purposes. If students get chilly in class they are welcome to use a blanket, but not wear them around the school. That being said, students could also become too comfortable with the blanket and get sleepy. Students should always pay attention in class to get the most out of their education.
Blankets could pose as a distraction as well. Students could cause a distraction by trying to rearrange their blankets or mess with it during class, getting other students off track from the lesson.
There are many reasons for the blanket rule, but not just to go against students. It’s for the safety and education of students.
