National Honor Society will be going on a field trip to watch “Hamilton” on May 9.
NHS Sponsor Leslie Graham said that “Hamilton” will be a great show for the students to watch.
“The kids have requested a theatrical performance for a couple years now,” she said. “I personally love ‘Hamilton,’ since I‘ve watched it twice in person.”
Senior Chase Curry said he is thrilled to see the play.
“I’ve never seen any professional plays before,” Curry said. “I’m excited that I get the chance to see one.”
Sophomore Ethan Pettibon said he wants to see a play done by people who work in the theater profession.
“The only plays I can recall seeing are ones from school and church,” he said. “I can’t wait to see a play done by professionals.”
Junior Estefani Zea Monroy said she’s excited to be able to spend time with friends.
“I’m excited about getting a day off and not coming to school,” she said. “People in NHS work hard all the time so it’s nice to get a break.”
Graham said Hamilton had a different way to present itself.
“The style of the play is very different to the typical musical,” she said. “When Hamilton came out in 2016 it was such a big hit because of the twist in tone.
Curry said NHS students are well deserved of a trip.
“I think this trip is well deserved,” he said “We work very hard in our academics and this is a nice prize.”
Junior Brooke Smith said she has heard Hamilton should be a great play.
“I’ve heard such good things about Hamilton,” Brooke said. “It’s a popular show and it’s going to be done by professionals so I expect it to be a great show.”
Sophomore Chloe Hibbs said watching Hamilton is a rare opportunity.
“I’ve only experienced plays from school,” Hibbs said. “I think everyone should get a chance to see a professionally done play because it’s a once in a lifetime experience.”
