Students gathered to elect new officers for the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America organization. During the meeting members also discussed about further community services they plan on doing.
The new officers are Estefani Zea Monroy as president, Zoey Hasting as vice president, Jayda Bogar as supervisor of projects and achievements, Kayden Cornell as supervisor of records and public relations, Chevy Wallace as supervisor of membership/attendance, Adrena Denton as supervisor of finance/fund raisers, and Juan Alba as Sergeant of Arms.
FCCLA Sponsor Donette Odom said the first group discussion talked about different things they could do to assist the community.
“In our first meeting we discussed about competitions and fund raisers,” Odom said. “We were bouncing around ideas for services we could do but nothing is set in stone yet.”
Zea Monroy said she wants the members to participate more in activities.
“I would love for the entire group to be more involved this year,” Zea Monroy said. “We plan on doing some community services and I’d like for people to take the quizzes they did three years ago.”
Wallace said to be able to improve the atmosphere of the school the FCCLA group has to converse about it.
“I’d like to enhance the school environment,” she said. “I hope we can discuss on what we can do to make the school better at our meetings.”
Hastings said that the involvement of the officers will be beneficial for their plans.
“My hopes for this year is to be to contribute together as a organization to aid the community,” she said. “I think our strong officer team will be a big help to make sure we get everything on our bucket list done for the year.”
Cornell said that the group must build a good connection to be able to move forward.
“I look forward to growing relationships among the people in FCCLA,” she said. “I hope that the strong bond we build as a group can help us succeed in everything we do.”
