One of the biggest disputes that has been disagreed over for many years is whether the book or the movie is better. Though certain individuals believe that reading a book is a better option than watching a movie, this simply isn’t true.
Movies provide a visual form of entertainment when books can sometimes be close to impossible to read. Many times people just can’t find eight hours or more to read a book instead of watching a less-than-two-hour long movie. These hours of reading could be spent doing more productive things. For example, it can be hard for students to find the time in their busy schedules that include sports, academic UIL, band and many more organizations. Although there might be benefits that come along with reading a book, there comes a point where it is simply just easier and more efficient to watch the movie and retain the same amount of information.
In addition to watching the movie being easier and more time sparing, movies are more diverse in their audiences. Multiple disabilities such as dyslexia prohibit or can make it harder for individuals to read books. As a result, they can watch the film. Movies can also be watched as fun family activities for little children all the way to older senior citizens. Much diversity applies whenever it comes to watching movies.
Furthermore, books such as “Anne of Green Gables,” “Pride and Prejudice,” and many more can be difficult to understand because of the vocabulary. With “Anne of Green Gables,” the book is a very challenging novel for youthful readers, but is clearly intended for a youthful audience. With this book, the movie is a much better option for people who are still interested in the story line and plot. This situation applies to different novels as well in which the movie is just the better choice.
Many books are quite old, and the words that are used in them can be nearly outdated and not as commonly seen, which can make it very difficult for the reader to imagine the scenes and situations in the way that the author intended the book to be interpreted. Times like these are when it can be much easier to use the movie version instead of a book. A lot of times, the film adaptions of these novels can become even more popular than the book. Sometimes people don’t even realize that the book existed before the movie did, proving the point that the movie is better.
It is evident that movies easily outrun books. Film adaptations are a much better choice than the alternate option of a book.
