OVERALL: The junior high boys kicked off their season on Nov. 13, so far the 8th grade is 1-1 and the 7th grade is 0-2. They had a tournament in Haskell Nov. 22 and the both teams went 0-2.
THIS WEEK: On Nov. 17, the boys played Seymour, and the 8th grade lost 27-21 and 7th lost 45-13. “I learned from the Seymour game that we need to be more aware of our surroundings.” 8th grader Brendan Cox said.
Athletes explained that the team has been practicing and running a lot of plays. They have been working hard at practices to improve all of their skills.
PREVIOUS GAMES: The 8th grade boys started their season off with a win against Nocona. The 7th grade did not get the win, but competed.
BRIGHT SPOTS:
8th grader Preston Floyd said. PLAYERS & POSITIONS: “ Last year, we only lost 2 games to Seymour and Nocona.” 8th grader Abel McCown said. Furthermore, their goal this year is to only lose two or fewer games.
WEAKNESS: The teams do have some weaknesses according to Luke Doyle, but they also have so many strengths on the court. “We need to work on making layups, communication, and team bonding.” 7th grader Luke Doyle said.
STRENGTH: “The JH boys have been running plays in practice so that they are ready for all their games. Their biggest strengh is offense because they are able to make a lot of their shots.” 8th grader Nicholas Bradshaw said. The boys put in extra time outside of practice. They also participate in open gym practices on the weekends according to the JH boys. “This is helping us improve week by week.” “We are hoping to win all of our games coming up.” 7th grader Wayne Paul said. “My goal for the upcoming years is to be able to shoot better.”8th grader Brendan Cox said.
NEXT WEEK: The boys will be taking on the Olney Cubs on Dec. 15 in Olney. After they face Olney they will be playing Windthorst Jan. 8. “The JH Wildcats are looking to add another win to their season” 7th grader Kalan Stephens said.
