The varsity boys basketball team started their season with a loss against Jacksboro
Freshman Brayden Tedrow said he has set goals for this season.
“My goal for this season is to make it to playoffs,” Tedrow said. “I believe in us, but it’s going to take a lot of commitment and hard work.”
Sophomore Reed Truette said he’s hopeful for a good district run.
“This year we really have a good chance at doing good in district,” Truette said. “I hope we all can work together this year.”
Junior Grayson Jeter said he is excited for this upcoming season.
“I’m excited to be working with a new group of boys,” Jeter said. “We all get along pretty well so I can’t wait to see our achievements.”
Junior Gage McCord said the team needs to work on certain skills.
“We need to work on our basketball IQ,” McCord said. “We are all still a little rusty, so I hope we will eventually get back to it.”
Senior Maddox Mayo said his thoughts on this season.
“We have a young team, and I’m kind of nervous for how they will deal under pressure,” Mayo said. “Our younger boys are really good athletes, but I hope they don’t feel too much pressure on them.”
Freshman Kash Doyle said the team has positive aspects.
“I’m exited to play with this group of boys, and I’m happy that they have welcomed me so nicely,” Doyle said. “We have a really good chance of going to playoffs and hopefully going at least two rounds.”
Senior Zech Allen said he is excited for his last season.
“I haven’t played basketball in a while, so coming back this season is very exciting,” Allen said. “It’s fun to play with my boys even if we win or lose so I think this season is going to be really fun.”
Sophomore Seth Truette said the team has weaknesses.
“We need to work on our offensive side of basketball rather than our defense,” he said. “I need to work on driving to the basket and getting shots up.”
Sophomore Noah Reneau is excited for this season
“We have a lot of doubt from others but, I think we will do fine,” Reneau said. “I’m excited to see how far we get into playoffs.”
