The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America organization met on Oct. 3 to discuss officers, field trips and meetings.
Sponsor Donette Odom said FCCLA officers are going to be held to a high standard.
“There are many expectations that are held for the FCCLA officers especially because the organization is student led,” Odom said. “The officers should run the organization like clock work because they should have the experience of leadership.”
President Juan Alba said he hopes to have a successful year as president.
“After being in FCCLA for four years, I am happy to take the position of president,” Alba said. “I hope to guide our organization to the best it’s ever been and make sure everyone enjoys their time in FCCLA.”
Vice President Madelyn Tedrow said she has many aspirations for this FCCLA year.
“I’m excited to be an officer this year,” she said. “I hope we get many things done such as meetings, and I hope we can all bond together as a community.”
Odom said she is excited to take the members on a field trip after the four-year break.
“I have missed going to the Renaissance Fair and Magic Time Machine for the past four years,” she said. “One of my favorite parts was listening to the students talk about their experiences from going to the fair.”
Sophomore Chevy Wallace said she is looking forward to exploring different activities.
“Going to the Renaissance Fair is going to be a new experience for me,” Wallace said. “I’ve been to the Magic Time Machine before, so I’m sure I’ll like going to the fair as well.”
Senior Adrena Denton said she is mainly excited to go on the field trip with her friends.
“I’m not into dressing up all that often,” she said, “but I’m sure I’ll still find the experience of going with my friends amusing.”
Sophomore Serenity Cantu said she enjoys the FCCLA environment.
“I can’t wait for the upcoming meetings,” she said. “After the first meeting I realized that I really enjoyed hanging out and making discussions.”
