FCCLA had a picnic luncheon on March 26 that involved homemade sandwiches and a variety of sides.
FCCLA’s new system for luncheons is working for students, said senior Juan Alba.
“I’m so glad everyone was able to come together again for the meeting,” Alba, FCCLA president, said. “I also enjoy this new system we’re having for luncheons where it’s one specific food item and everyone brings different ingredients to complete the entire luncheon.”
Sponsor Donette Odom said the luncheon was successful.
“We were really busy that day,” Odom said. “Luckily, it all worked out, and everyone enjoyed their meals. We even have leftovers for other luncheons to come.”
The selections to choose from for the sandwiches were a nice variety, according to senior Steven Zea Monroy.
“The sandwiches were really good, and we had a bunch of different things to choose from when it came to what actually went inside the sandwich,” Zea Monroy said. “There was chicken, turkey and ham to choose from when it came to meat and we had lettuce, tomatoes and different condiment options, too.”
Freshman Heather Schroeder said luncheons are a good time to connect with friends.
“I enjoy hanging out with my friends, and luncheons like the ones we have in FCCLA make it really easy,” she said. “The food also is typically enjoyable, so it’s always a win-win situation.”
Freshman Faith Franke said the luncheon had humor along with sandwiches.
“This new picnic idea where we got to sit outside and enjoy fresh air was really nice,” she said. “The umbrella kept on falling down, but that just made it a funny situation.”
Member Savannah Cantu said helping with the luncheons is her specialty.
“I always enjoy helping out the FCCLA organization when it comes to the luncheons,” Cantu said. “I ended up helping organize the meat, cut the lettuce and a little bit with setting up the entire thing to make sure everything went well.”
