The artist and musicians in High School.
From art masterpieces to amazing vocal abilities, students are showcasing their imagination and motivation around campus.
Sophomore Wyatt Schmitz‘s artistic capabilities are taken from things around him.
“Drawing can represent parts of my life depending on how I draw at the time and how much I have improved,” Schmitz said.
As Schmitz continues to illustrate his drawing skills, he said he realizes the value of drawing as he can be himself and show who he is through his art.
“Drawing does sometimes let me express myself,” Schmitz said. “My dad was the one who motivated me to draw.”
People’s motivation for their artistry comes from different areas and or perspectives of life. It can even come from the people around the community, as sophomore Adeline Curry said.
“My main motivation to draw was Lexi Wall because we drew a lot as kids together,” Curry said.
In particular, Curry uses drawing as a side hobby, but wants to pursue more of a singing career rather than planning to become an artist.
“I draw just for fun when I’m bored,” Curry said.
Nevertheless, Curry said she likes to combine songs as an inspiration for her art to articulate herself through it.
“I like to incorporate songs into my drawing,” Curry said. “Yes, it’s an easy way to express myself.”
Furthermore, Curry believes her singing career has lived up to more possibilities in the future.
“Singing has brought up many for me,” Curry said. “I plan to go to college to be a worship director.”
Drawing can expand a person’s identity and acknowledge self-discovery, as sophomore Lexi Wall said.
“Drawing has saved me mentally and is a part of who I am,” Wall said.
Wall picked up drawing as a hobby at a young age and progressed over the years.
“I’ve been drawing since I was in Kindergarten,” Wall said. “My drawings have and will continue to get better as time goes on.”
As these students stated, drawing can bring a sense of calm to the mind and draw friends closer.
“Drawing brings me a sense of relaxation,” Wall said. “I mainly draw to bond with close friends.”
Drawing isn’t the only creative outlet. Music plays a crucial part of life, said eighth grader Teegan Bumgarner, who plays in the orchestra at his church.
“I’ve always loved playing music,” Bumgarner said. “I’ve played for about two years now and I enjoy it a lot.”
Although Bumgarner has not truly relied on continuing to take part in orchestra, he still believes it could lead into more openings in the future.
“It could lead to more opportunities in the future,” Bumgarner said.
