From staycations to traveling out of state, students and staff spent their sping breaks enjoying time away from school.
Sixth grader Kaleb Starnes traveled out of state.
“For spring break, I went to a cabin in Broken Bow, Oklahoma,” Starnes said. “Nearby the cabin was a virtual reality area where you could pick a variety of games to experience.”
Others stayed in Texas for their trip to visit family.
“I went to Odessa to my sister’s house for five days,” eighth grader Maci Casillas said.
Math teacher Cerise Wuthrich also went out of town for her spring break.
“I went to Surprise, Arizona, for Texas Ranger spring training,” Wuthrich said.
Starnes said he made lasting memories during spring break.
Wuthrich said her favorite part of the spring break trip was the perfect weather.
“It was absolutely perfect–mild temperatures and no wind,” she said.
Despite all the fun on the trip, Wuthrich said the traffic was troublesome.
“My least favorite part was the traffic between Dallas-Fort Worth and home on the way back,” Wuthrich said. “We had to drive 45 minutes out of the way because of a wreck in Decatur.”
Casillas said her trip had some downsides as well.
“My least favorite thing about it was that we woke up early, and I had to sleep on the couch,” Casillas said.
Starnes said his least favorite thing came at the end of the trip.
“My least favorite thing was leaving, which felt quite unfortunate,” Starnes said.
Wuthrich said she would love to go back to the place she went for her spring break trip.
“This was our second time to attend spring training, and we will go again,” Wuthrich said. “It’s a relaxing vacation, and you get to see lots of players up close. The ball fields are small, so every seat is a good seat, and the tickets are cheap.”
Starnes also said he would enjoy returning to Broken Bow.
“I would definitely go again,” Starnes said. “Sitting outside in the rain watching TV was peaceful.”
