After hours of online research and driving miles to tour campuses, seniors have started their application process for the next step in their life: college. Applying to college can be a time-consuming process, but necessary in the end. Seniors have the chance to start a new chapter and see what the real world is truly about while in college.
Counselor Leslie Graham helps seniors every year with the application process. She also gives students advice for enrolling in college.
“Start the application process as early as possible and pay very close attention to every deadline,” Graham advised. “If you need help, simply just ask. Seniors always believe they know how to apply by themselves, but end up becoming stressed which doesn’t help while registering. If students just ask me or any teacher for help, we can give as much or as little help as they want or need.”
Senior Ethan Pettibon has already applied to Midwestern State University.
“Overall, the questions I had to answer weren’t very difficult,” Pettibon said. “They were somewhat confusing, but I simply asked for help from my parents. The questions were mostly about my life’s status and how I’m handling things as a senior. So far, I’ve done well answering the questions and plan on continuing the application process.”
After receiving a scholarship, senior Zech Allen finished the application process for a university.
“I was offered a scholarship for football from Bethel University,” Allen said. “I will most likely go to Bethel, but there is a slight
possibility that I could go to Midwestern State University instead. I have applied for Bethel University because of the football scholarship and MSU because it is local. In college, I plan on majoring in business because it has always been a dream of mine to run my own business, and MSU and Bethel will help me reach my goal.”
Senior Serenity Jones has applied to different colleges including Midwestern State University, Texas Tech University, Texas A&M University and Texas State University.
“I have applied to these colleges because they are good places to meet new people and make even more friends,” Jones said. “Also, most of these colleges are fairly large, so there is even more things to do and learn. College is a good place for a lot of new opportunities.”
