Principal change

Krenek takes over position with 3 months left of school

Students and staff are adjusting to the change in the principal position to Mrs. Jamie Krenek.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to be the principal for the junior high and high school,” Krenek said. “I am grateful that I have the opportunity to hopefully have a positive impact on the lives of students, teachers and staff.”
Superintendent C.D. Knobloch said Krenek grew up in Archer City and “understands all the expectations from both the school and the community.”
“With her community and school experience, she will be able to combine her Archer City background with her knowledge and be a great leader for both students and staff,” Knobloch said.
As a 2006 graduate of Archer City ISD, Krenek attended Texas A&M and graduated with a Bachelor of Science [BS] in civil engineering. She worked as an engineer in San Antonio before switching to education in 2016.
“We are so excited to have our children in a great school district and community that is involved in supporting the school,” Krenek said. “The nostalgia of working at the school with some of my teachers and under Mr. [C.D. ]Knobloch, who was my principal, is a great experience. I see the great things ACISD has done and look forward to continuing the growth of the school.”
Sophomore Maddox Mayo said he believes Krenek will be a “hard-working” principal.
“She has been very helpful in the past, and I think she will be a good fit,” Mayo said.
Krenek said the biggest challenge of stepping into the role with a quarter of the year left has been figuring out what tasks have been completed and what tasks still need to be completed.
“Having been in two different districts over my educational career has allowed me to gain different insights on how to handle situations that may arise,” Krenek said. “I have also been very fortunate to have worked with both Dr. Sherrill and Mrs. Huseman over the last two years as assistant principal.”
Sophomore Zakkary DeFee said Krenek has been “very involved” and attended many student activities.
“She is very personable and young enough to relate to students,” DeFee said.
Krenek said stepping into the role has already been “rewarding and challenging.”
“My goal for the junior high and high school is to make sure we offer the best instruction for our students, based on their interests and real-world job demands,” Krenek said. “I want to build and foster a campus where students and faculty want to be and excel.”
