The summertime brings opportunities to go on vacation and spend times with friends.
Eighth grader Ashlyn Harvey said that Hawaii was her “favorite place” she visited this summer.
“Hawaii is such a beautiful place to be,” Harvey said. “There are so many things to do.”
Harvey went with her family to Lahaina, Hawaii.
“My grandparents and my uncle came along with,” Harvey said. “I was so happy to see my grandparents having a good time.”
The road to Hana is a “beautiful” road filled with “fun” excursions Harvey said.
“We climbed mountains,” Harvey said, “and saw a beautiful waterfall that split into seven smaller waterfalls throughout the island.”
Juniors Landon Smith, Ty Cantrell and Kellar Crow went on cruises and spent part of their summer on the ocean.
“My family and Landon’s went on a Carnival Cruise this summer,” Crow said.
Their cruise took them to three different places.
“We went to Belize, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman ,” he said.
Excursions at these places include hiking, sailing, fishing and more.
“My favorite excursion we did was swim with sharks,” Smith said. “ It was fun to be able to touch them and be right next to them.”
Carnival Cruises have different activities to do on board.
“While we were on the cruise we mostly played basketball and hung out,” Crow said.
The cruise also gave Smith and Crow a chance to meet new people.
“While we were playing basketball, we met lots of new people,” Smith said. “At first I thought it would just be me Kellar and Ty hanging out, but we met so many people.”
Senior Kambri David went to Belize this summer with her friends.
“We were on a private island,” David said. “Having the island to ourselves was paradise.”
Belize also has excursions that include night snorkeling, deep sea fishing, canoeing and more.
“My favorite thing we did was night snorkeling,” David said. “We saw a huge stingray, many fish, lobster and tons more.”
David also got a massage on the island’s beach.
“One morning I woke up and there were massage chairs set out on the beach,” David said. “That was the best massage I’ve ever got in my life.”
Belize does have a different variety of food than Texas.
“I loved the food so much,” David said. “One night we had a barbecue, but it was not the regular food we eat here. We barbecued fish, squid and made filler foods as our sides.”
Summer time is filled with memories.
“Spending time with my friends and making memories that will last forever is my favorite part about summer,” David said.Students
